Big Smoke Brass are excited to announce that they will be performing in 'Brass Spectacular - A Celebration of Brass Chamber Music', at St John's Smith Square on Saturday 16th February.
This biennial event is an initiative lead by Ursula Jones, wife to the late Philip Jones - renowned leader of the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and former Principal of Trinity College of Music. One brass chamber group from each of the Conservatoires in the UK has been nominated to perform a slot at this prestigious event, held in the significant musical landmark which is St John's Smith Square and Big Smoke Brass are delighted to have the opportunity to represent Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
Each ensemble will perform a 15 minute programme based on the theme of Dance, for which Big Smoke Brass will be drawing on repertoire performed during their recent 'Brass in Concert' series. The concert will culminate in a massed performance of music from Billy May's 'Big Fat Brass' album, conducted by legendary trumpet player, Mike Lovatt.
Tickets are available for the event through the St John's Smith Square website, www.sjss.org.uk for £15 or a £5 concession for students.
