We could not be more delighted that Big Smoke Brass played at our wedding. Everyone told us how much they enjoyed their set and how much it contributed to the overall enjoyment of our day - the dance floor was packed throughout. They were so easy to communicate with also. We cannot reccomend them highly enough.

The Big Smoke Brass guys certainly know how to put on a show! Familiar and well-loved pop songs played in a way you definitely won’t have heard before. Thoroughly entertaining and never lacking in energy, enthusiasm and swagger. They clearly love playing their instruments and it shows. Dispense with the boring DJ or the covers band you’re thinking of and get them instead.

Thank you Big Smoke Brass for making our wedding so special. We wanted to find a band who did something a bit different, and who could play to a wedding crowd without being too ‘cheesy’...Everyone left the evening wanting to know who the band were, how we found them...or wanted to pick up a tuba and start learning. Thank you, thank you!

Frequently asked questions

How much space does the band require?

The performance space needs to be a minimum of 3 x 5 metres

Can I have some input into the setlist?

We are happy to discuss your preferences when preparing a setlist and will do our best to tailor the choice of songs for your event.

Where will you travel to?

We travel all over the UK to perform at weddings and other events. Please note that we are based in London and the distance to the venue will be reflected in the travel costs.

Can I see you perform live?

Keep an eye on our gigs page as well as our social media to find out whether we have any upcoming, public engagements near you. We would love to see you there and if you have already booked the band and are coming to an event, please let us know so we can say hello!

Are you able to take song requests?

We are unable to take song requests on the day of the event due to the work required to produce arrangements for our unique line-up. However, when you book the band to play at your wedding you are entitled to request 1 song in advance that the band will prepare and perform. Any additional song requests after this incur a £50 fee per song.

How do I book the band?

To discuss the details of your wedding and to recieve a quote from the band, head to the Book Us page on this website and submit your name, email address and a short message explaining your plans for the day. You will recieve an email from our Bookings Manager as soon as possible.

Do you provide a PA System and Lighting?

The band can provide both a PA System and Lighting rig.

How long do you play for?

Our standard performance at weddings is 2 x 45 minute sets. We are happy to adjust the number and length of sets to suit your plans for the day but please note that due to the physical demands of playing brass instruments there is an upper limit to how long the band can perform for.

Do you have a time that you need to be finished by?

There is not a set time that the band needs to be finshed by however the cut off time will be influenced by the amount of travel involved and in some cases additional costs will be included to cover the price of accomodation for the band.

How long does it take you to set up?

The band does not come with much of the heavy equipment used by standard function bands and so we are able to set up very swiftly in comparison. We usually aim to arrive at the venue 60 minutes before we are due to perform and the set up and sound check can usually be executed within 15-45 minutes depending on the space and equipment being used.

Can you perform acoustically as well as amplified?

The band is able to perform both acoustically and amplified as well as both indoors and outdoors. The volume of brass instruments is suitably loud enough for most venues that when we do use amplification it is to enhance the sound quality rather than the overall volume.

Can you perform whilst roaming around?

The brass players in the group are able to roam around whilst playing however the drum kit must remain stationary.

What will the band wear?

The band will wear their signature coloured braces with smart white shirts, black trousers and black shoes.

Does the band have PAT and PLI certificates?

The band can provide up to date PAT and PLI certificates on request.

How much does it cost to book the band?

Your quote will be influenced by the location of the wedding, the number and length of sets that will be performed and the number of song requests that you make. Prices start from £960.

What does the band require on the day?

Parking near to the venue is preferable. The band also requests something to eat and drink during our time at the venue.

Do I need to pay a deposit to secure the booking?

Once the details have been agreed a contract will be sent to you and a 10% deposit will be required to secure the booking.
