A Surprise Wedding Brass Band at Horsley Towers

On Saturday 11th July 2026, Big Smoke Brass brought our 7-Piece Roaming Band to Horsley Towers in East Horsley for Becky and George’s wedding. What began as a hidden surprise during the ceremony turned into two high-energy sets of live brass music for their drinks reception, starting with an entrance that none of their guests were expecting.
A Surprise Brass Band Entrance After the Ceremony
The band had been carefully hidden on a balcony overlooking the ceremony, completely out of sight of Becky and George’s guests. As the ceremony came to an end, the pianist began playing their recessional song, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”.
We had coordinated with the pianist in advance so that, when the music reached the song’s iconic horn section, the 7-Piece Roaming Band could suddenly appear from the balcony and take over the music. The surprise was revealed just as the newlyweds and their guests were heading outside for the confetti shot, creating a memorable transition from the ceremony into the celebrations.

Live Brass Music for the Drinks Reception
After the surprise reveal, the band continued outside with Becky, George and their guests, performing the rest of their two 45-minute sets during the drinks reception. Our fully acoustic 7-Piece Roaming Band could move around the grounds and perform amongst the guests without needing a stage or PA system.
It was an exceptionally hot July afternoon, so for part of the reception we found some welcome shade beneath one of the trees in the grounds of Horsley Towers. The relaxed outdoor setting was a perfect fit for the roaming line-up, bringing plenty of energy to the reception while guests enjoyed the celebrations.

What Becky & George Said
“Just wanted to send a quick message to say thank you so much to you and the whole band. It really made the day!!! Such a good surprise for our guests and such good vibes, thank you!!!”
